Off to Cape Flattery

We left Heart O' Hills campground in Olympic National Forest @ around Noon.

Basically, we had another late start. Our initial agenda was to go down to Ozette Lake and trek this 9-mile triangular trail early in the morning. Then, we would drive to Washington's most northwestern tip and trek the Cape Flattery trail. Due to time constraints, we did the Cape Flattery trail.

There was something unique about all the trails we had done so far from Redwood National Park to Olympic National Forest. That something was the pleasant and earthy aroma that hanged in the air. The lush evergreens of Redwood, Douglas fir, Western red cedar, and Western hemlock that surrounded you. The lush shrubs, ferns and other plants that thrived on the forest bottom. The wet and moist bark-mulched trail that you hiked on of an old-growth forest that had been around. What made it more SPECIAL for me, was that it brought back the CHILDHOOD feeling of exploration and discovery.
